Amelia Island 2019

A few weeks ago we went on a last minute trip to Amelia Island, Florida with some friends, and it was so lovely. We typically spend our beach time on the gulf, but the beauty of Amelia has me completely smitten! Canopy roads, sea grass and shrubs, and the pull of the ocean were exactly what my soul needed. There’s something to life giving about the ocean.

We stayed at Ocean Place, right beside the Ritz Carlton, and it was perfect. We could walk over to the Ritz for a date night, a massage or even just to eat dinner. The condo had a really large balcony looking out over the pools (there are two!) and the ocean, and it was spacious enough for four adults and three kids. The Harris Teeter right down the street was perfect for our grocery needs and even had fresh tuna steaks on sale while we were there which was a pleasant surprise!

There is a paved trail running along the main road that weaved in and out of the most beautiful tree canopy. I was able to sneak in a 5k run one morning while my sweet friend watched the boys, and it was so life giving! The trail was perfect. Lightly wooded with beautiful tree canopies followed by open trail alongside some of the most beautiful bay-front homes you have ever seen!

Our oldest is at such a fun age (5), especially when it comes to the beach. He enjoyed splashing in the waves, bodysurfing, digging in the sand, and was absolutely in heaven to spend the whole day on the beach. My kind of day! The babe enjoyed digging his little hands and feet into the sand and eating it (natch) while watching his big brother run around.

Carefree days, simple meals, lots of cuddles - it was a lovely week with a slow pace that we decided we needed more of in our day to day.
